I have a harbor freight titanium65 plasma cutter and am wondering if it can support the THC on the arcdroid.

I have the titanium 65 and the THC works fine, because the THC is controlled by the Arcdroid not the plasma torch. the problems I seem to have is getting a good ground. I tried a magnet but it would cut fine for a little bit then only half way though the material. Had me scratching my head but when I went back to a standard clamp the problem went away!

Are you sure? The plasma cutter( titanium 65 ) provides the voltage signal. That is what the arcdroid controller uses to alter the Torch Height Control. As it states in the manual of the Titanium 65 it is not within the range the arcdroid can use and you either have to use some type of voltage reducing regulator or use a tap off raw voltage and another method. The thc is a locked feature you need a software key from arcdroid customer service to access.

No, I’m not sure. I’m new to this, and still learning. I just assumed the Arcdroid controlled it because of all Height control settings on the machine. Also if you’re using a Titanium 45 , it does not have the 14 pin connector, but the height controls are still there? Am I missing something here?

The pin has two wires to trigger the plasma torch on and off. The arcdroid uses these to enable and disable the arc. Two other of the pins give you the voltage divided that is a ratio 20:1 or 50:1 or whatever the plasma model has set. Some plasma cutters have internal din switches that allow you to choose you reported ratio. Hypertherms, are high end and offer this as many cnc table designers use them. The problem is that the Titanium65 ratio is not compatible with the arcdroid, it is too high and using it could fry the arcdroid electronics. Arcdroid states to use it at your own risk with a add on voltage divider. This is why the thc is locked. There are threads on the actual ratios here but I don’t know the correct numbers without looking them up. The thc is really only necessary when you are using warped, thin or no water table to keep the metal from deforming. Arcdroid has a compromise system that samples three spots on the work surface to adjust for some deviation in the comparative level of the table with the units base and it’s calibration. You need to search this forum for those details.

The torch height is one paramiter you need to set within the arcdroid settings. Too large or too small a gap causes misfires, material strikes and all sorts of failures to create a clean cut. Your owners manual will usually give you a good range depending on material, thickness, power setting and nozzle size. This is why we need a better owners manual.

Could Andrew chime in on this so I haven’t misled anyone?
