Will the old controller be able to do this stuff or are we getting separate uploads? Everything is working great on old downloads I’d hate to update with no benefits.
Plus updates are just for Plus.
I put the new controller to work, it ran flawless. Used a template also perfect. A little laser, a little plasma------it’s good.
Has anyone heard about an issue where the Plus Power PCB will not fit? It appears that the sockets (plastic pieces around the pins) are installed backwards on my main board. They do not match the instructions, and the voltage does not match if I flip the board around. Also, it will not clear the relay. Did I get a one in a million or is there a batch of main boards with this issue?
I can try to remove the plastic and flip it on the mother board but if it messes it up then I am screwed.
Guess I need to contact support?
Hi guys, i just got my controller plus yesterday i haven’t got a chance to unbox yet, i just want to ask do i have to connect the controller plus to the arcdroid when updating it? Or i can update it straight to the controller plus?
Just plug it into a USB C power cord and you can update it stand alone. At least that worked on mine.
Thanks for the response, i will try that.
If you try it and it doez not boot you may need a bigger supply. Not all USB power chargers have enough amps to power the unit.
Heard back from support. They ssked me to rotate them. Took a little effort to pull them off but just took it slow and easy.
Rotated them and installed the board. As I mentioned in another thread I found a great reference for if it is in all the way. Look in the one picture and you can see the power board is even with the relay.
@mbparks and @Andrew I’m getting the same “No comms for 5 seconds” error, the colored band continues indefinitely, and the screen is dim. @Andrew I have Order #94 from the Indigogo campaign a few years back. I’ll email you my S/N#. The Power PCB is installed. Hoping it’s a quick fix, Thanks! ![]()
For less money you can purchase a shielded, right-angle, Cat8 cable. Ethernet shielding comes with two designators: Overall cable/Twisted pairs. “U” always denoted unshielded. One is where each of the four pairs is individually foil shielded but there is no overall cable shielding ( U/ FTP). The other is where you have an overall foil or braided shield on the cable (F/UTP or S/UTP, respectively ) but no shielding on individual pairs. You can buy it with both individual pair shielding AND overall foil or braided shield (F/FTP or S/FTP). The better the EMI/RFI shielding you have, the fewer potential problems on a machine that is already known to be susceptible to both. I see no advantage to using an unshielded cable. Especially when it cost more. Try searching Vabogu Cat8 as one option on Amazon.
BTW, the “S” designator for a braided shield derived from the only (S)hielding option before Belden created 100% BeldFoil shielding. Braided shield is never 100% and is often as low as 70% coverage. Twisted pairs carrying differential data are the first line of defense against noise ingress, but it is very limited in known EMI/RFI environments. Proximity matters immensely, but it’s not always feasible to further separate the cable from the noise source(s).
I tried to update the plus simple trace …seems to have bricked my plus controller. No response from screen whether on the cat cable or on usb stand alone. Started a ticket… Am I missing something obvious?
Check the output of the USB stand alone supply. Although it will run on less the controller likes 3.0 amps or more. Wven some laptop supplies are not that high at 5 volt. You have to read the small print.
I am also waiting to buy, but am in Brisbane, Australia. I suppose it’s good to wait until alll the kinks are out and we can just plug it in ![]()
Well I got my bricked plus back from service…all good again. Really great customer service. Word of caution: do your update while on a high current usb supply. Ironically the 6/26 update is supposed to fix this power bug according to the simple trace plus release notes.
Still happy with my arcdroid!
Keep your ArcDroid™ up to date with the latest Firmware and Software.
