Pen Holder

I wanted to be able to trace out/mark fold lines before cutting out parts, so I made a pen holder with its own ArcDroid mount for easy swapping.

The ArdDroid mount is cut-out on the ArcDroid in 2mm Aluminium, and the spring loaded pen holder is 3D printed. It takes a standard retractable Sharpie
The pens position from the mount is identical to the torch on my machine so that the position it draws in should be the same as the plasma cuts.

If anyone else wants to make their own I have attached the DXF files of the tool holder and STL files of the pen holder part.
The offset of the 3d printed pen holder should be adjusted to match the offset of your own torch.

Great tool! I imagine it is also a good way to do a dry run and test a more complicated design if you want to take the time to draw once and cut once. It’s not like the plasma cutter can’t cut through a sharpie line right?

Thanks for sharing, this will be real handy.
Even just the mount is going to be real nice to have.

How did you screw in the locking cams to the torch mount, seems pretty thin and weak to just thread it.
Did you find some sort of stud like the oem one uses?

I just threaded it, seems to be holding up okay, but obviously there are stronger solutions. I just wanted to keep it simple, it’s only holding a pen.

I designed a 3D printable mounting bracket that slots on and holds without any additional hardware. Combined with Bensurtees 3D printed Pen holder design works perfectly turning Arcdroid into a plotter.

Will they be up for sale? I don’t have a 3d printer to make my own.

The one thing I have found is that if this mount does not hold the marker in the exact same spot as your stylus or plasma torch, the drawing will be off. Just try drawing a circle and you will find out. It might not be noticeable at first unless you measure it. Mine was off by about an 1’/8” on a 6 inch circle. When I tried to make a mounting plate for a winch, only 1 of 4 bolts would line up.
