Hi Folks, I’ve been using my arcdroid to cut parts from fusion and also by drawing them on the screen. It cuts very well, accuracy within a mm.
For the first time I plugged in my laser stylus and tried to sketch from some cardboard templates. After an initial success it just cannot seem to draw accurately, the lines are sometimes janky and out by much more than 1mm. Quite repeatably, some short lines that are supposed to be vertical have a significant lean to the right.
Ive tried tightening the belts and they seem fine, and if you double click the zero to hold the arm in place the machine seems nice and rigid.
I did follow the calibration setup.
I havent updated the firmware on it yet, have heard mixed results for doing this.
Ive spent a few hours trying and Its absolutely not my shaky hands or anything, im following the lines very carefully, but getting a very poor result.
any help appreciated
My suggestion for tracing is practice, practice, practice. I also use the remote button they offer, operating it with my foot so that I can secure, steady and manipulate the stylus with both hands. I also use Masonite for my templates, as the they are smoother to trace against than the cardboard and yield much better results. That’s what wouks for me. I trace all the time with these tips.a
Gidday, thanks for the reply. To clarify im not holding down the button to trace, but clicking point to point very accurately and getting what seems like a noisy signal. sometimes looks like a heart rate monitor. Ive had two other people with me trying to diagnose this using multiple different shapes and there is certainly an issue here.
A thing I forgot to mention is sometimes when clicking the stylus button it will skip some points even if I hear the audible beep coming from the controller and make a discontinuous shape.
Ive switched to using the button on the controller instead which seems to solve this issue.
Just updating this, I updated the firmware and the problem seems to have gone away.
Im still not sure why this was happening, maybe it was some mode or settings I had that are now defaulted back since the update? I really want to know why this was happening, so It doesnt happen again.
I did find this video, in which he explains that if you home the arcdroid with the arm folded up already it can cause problems. I realised I do this often and it may explain why I occasionaly have other issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiD7_0tIjq8
Great advise. Thank you.
