Primeweld Cut60 W/ THC

Hello all, I want to share my experience with the ArcDroid paired with the Primeweld Cut 60. After getting everything hooked up and doing some test cuts I started having random power shutdowns. I read some information on the web regarding how to mitigate some of the HF issues with CNC. After implementing nothing more than moving the ground clamp, I restarted my testing. This resulted in a moment of concern when my ArcDroid shut down and did not want to restart. I pulled the fuse, checked it and found it was good. After reinserting the fuse My Arcdroid powered on. I know the Primeweld is listed at compatible on the forums and this got me thinking. I believe the reason I’m having issues is due to the THC, which I am using. Two things, Has anyone had experience with the Primeweld before and after THC unlock and, what are you’re thoughts on this being the cause? I plan on sending the Primeweld back regardless. From everything I’ve read and watched, THC is a essential for the best cut quality and consumable life. It’s not something I’m willing to forgo despite the features and price of the Primeweld. Also, since I have you here, is there a consensus on the best budget LF plasma cutter? Ideally it will be CNC ready but I’m not opposed to opening up the box and making connections.

Thank you,

UGL.

Built in voltage dividers on plasma cutters are hit or miss at best. The one on Hypertherm cutters seems to be pretty good.
Not an pushing an ad for myself but just an FYI. I have been building voltage dividers for folks, even had a Canadian company order a batch to sell with their ArcDroid/Primeweld combo. Always possible there is something wrong with your cutter however, having an external divider has been very reliable from all my testing and in feedback from customers.

I have zero doubt you know a vast amount more about it than I do. I’ll refer to your expertise. I did look at the link you provided in a previous forum post. Your voltage divider was unavailable at that time. I dropped the unit off at UPS a couple hours ago. Based on the information you’ve provided, I might come to regret that. I did purchase an external voltage divider after checking your stock status. If it’s not to much to ask, would you be willing to take a look and tell me your opinion on the device?

Sorry about that UGL. Trying to fill that larger order I got behind on restocking.

That one might be OK. There’s not a lot of information on the page or in their manual other than it’s a set 50:1. I did find some smoothing and spike protection to be beneficial but it’s not necessary to it working. Likely it’s better than the ones built into most cutters. I’d be interested to hear how you make out with it.

I love my PrimeWeld 60 and i agree with AMP most internal volrage dividers are junk. I will be ordering one frome him soon. Had a lot of mediacl issues not much shop time last few months.
God bless and play and work safe.

Perfect. Thanks Anthony.

Just as a note, be sure to use the updated instruction sheet I emailed out or go grab it off my website. There was a mistake up until a day or 2 ago. The hookup diagram was correct but below that I listed the wrong pins. Pins 1 and 2 are for Arc Voltage.

Got mine in the mail today, in the process of wiring it in now. Thanks for putting these together Jason.
