I have a file that I need to un-nest as it won’t fit into he cutting area. I can’t reduce it in size as it affects the design. if there is someway to un-nest the file I can cut 1 or 2 pieces at time. I am pretty much CAD illiterate at this point but am willing to learn. I have zero software, for fear of not knowing what to get. If I depend on learning first, then cutting, I may never use the droid.
thanks for your help.
Is it art, or technical? And what file-format is it in?
Art is usually .svg file type and Inkscape is the common free tool to edit it. Mad Dog Metalworks on YouTube has a ton of very good videos for using Inkscape for plasma cutting.
Technical is usually .dxf and there are lots of options to edit. I personally use the personal-use license for Autodesk Fusion 360. Also lots of good YouTube videos but no one-person I can point you to, just search “fusion 360 for plasma”.
I’m traveling tomorrow but happy to help in a few days.
yes. .DXF. I will look at Fusion 360. thx
When you download it, if you aren’t using it commercially, be sure to download the “personal use” version. It is kinda hard to find sometimes. The “free trial” is easy to find and will start billing after 30-days.

thanks for the tip.
i went with on-shape. It seemed simpler than the other ones i looked. Simpler describes me perfectly. They are separated now, just have to see if they will cut separately when i load the file tomorrow.
My guess is they wont and I’ll need to separate them to individual files? i don’t know. but individual proud i got this far and it only took 7 hours. LOL
I’m not 100% sure since I’m still an ArcDroid newbie but I think you are correct and you’ll want two files.
