Hello fellow arcdroid operators.
I’ve been coming across the same issue lately and i’m losing faith in the machine (please help me bond with it).
I have a part traced and cut the first one out fine, all dimensions were perfect, so i proceeded to cut the remaining 4.
I didn’t use the pattern function I cut one then moved the arm and zero’d and began another cut. However I’ve noticed that the more I cut the larger the piece’s got!
Please study the pictures and if any you helpful bunch have any suggestions then please please give me a little guidance, I have tried all the usual, new consumables, re-calibration, slowing down, speeding up, less amps, more amps, clamped material to bed, not clamped material to bed.
I am at a loss and slowly losing my faith and interest please help!
Did you give time for the metal to cool down?
Not sure if this will help, but I find working around the last (5% ish) of the reach can cause issues with dimensions. Especially when probing Z, I always dry run a couple of times and try to get all my start points away from the edges of reach when ever posable.
I cut the first one fine, then cleaned it down before cutting the next, I have a water bed but surely the material wouldn’t expand or contract that much, it was 3mm S275 rolled plate.
I’m pretty certain that I wasn’t on the edges of the reach/stroke of the arm, I also use the auto level before every cut (until I can get the THC sorted).
The cuts and piercings are spot on and the settings I have give me minimal dross to clean (maybe a few spots below the supports of the cutting bed), what bothers me most is the size of the differences.
Thanks for the responses!
Try this, move your arm around to 1/2 dozen spots and make sure your torch stays at 90° from the side and front
Very strange for sure, I cut a lot of 3mm duplicate parts small and large and usually within a bee’s dick until I add beer and push my luck.
I will try this thanks for the suggestion!
I agree I can’t seem to figure it out, even when I’ve cut plate and used the pattern function they still come out with different dimensions.
I think I may have found a possible cause to the problem,
The material may be moving ever so slightly during the cutting process.
My table is approx 50mm bigger than the advertised cutting area of the AD.
I use 2000x1000 sheets and rip these down to fit my table.
I then place the cut down onto the table and this gives a visual guide of my working area, however I don’t clamp the material to the bed.
I had an off cut of some material from a different job which was bigger/heavy than the usual sized I tend to use and therefore I had to clamp and support the extra weight of the material.
Anyways I started cutting the first of many duplicate pieces and then compared the pieces and was finding they were within a gnat’s c**k of each other.
I’m going to use the pattern function later with the clamped material and report back.
My findings lead me to believe the material had been moving during the cut process and causing the deviation of the dimensions.
Baer with me and I’ll post back later with the results.
