So am a garage hobbyist with plasma. I currently have a hypertherm 30XP. The Arcdroid really hits all my points for size, portability, cost etc. But . . . I’ve been disappointed before with new startup ventures on kickstarter with 3d printing and other technologies that delivered but had no staying power and therefore support and parts became non-existent. For the number of ar droids produced the forum seems pretty sparse on users and content. Additionally the website doesn’t list parts or repair info. I’m not denigrating the product but trying to get some comfort level to join the group. Wondering what others have found on these issues? Sorry for the lengthy post.

Thanks… I like your question. I also don’t have a Arcdroid yet. Wondering how many units have been sold. And is it possible to find someone local ( south of Twin City’s MN.) What is average time for shipping to receiving
Thanks Ron

@Wallace Saunders The product is still fairly new. I bought mine during the kickstarter campaign and got in in March. Finally had time to use it week before last. There are three times as many members on the Facebook group. ArcDroid CNC Plasma | Facebook
I prefer the forum but it seems the last few years, everyone likes Facebook better so I now do both.
As far as parts availability goes, its hard enough right now to get parts to make the units that Arcrdroid are selling much less have extra to list for sale on this website. Having said that if you have issues or questions about replacement parts contact Andrew directly…

@Wallace Saunders Like anything, you’re always taking some risk the company will fold and leave you without parts. All I can say is, my experience with customer service so far has been great. Andrew has gone out of his way to help many of us work through the pains of getting the first units sorted and working as intended and offered to send out parts if needed. Much of which were small problems combined with user error. And my understanding is, from the feedback those changes have have gone into units being made now. Including software updates.
As far as parts, most of the wear items, you could find elsewhere or be able to make a replacement easily. It takes time for a compny to grow. So far, my experience is, they’ve been great to deal with.

So still looking hard at this. Will probably pair with a Prime weld Cut 60 primarily due to compressor output and warranty. For those that have one, I’m considering a machine torch to offset any torque from the right angle hand torch. Is it worth the expense given the small production envelope?

So far I have not found the hand torch to be any kind limiting factor in using the Arcdroid. I have a Hypertherm PowerMax45. I sure can’t find justification for the stinking high price of a machine torch bought seperately. Really don’t see what it brings to the table for what I have been doing.

I keep finding myself looking into the machine torch also. The hand held just gets annoying managing the cable and I would like to grab the handheld to use without taking it on/off the 'Droid. but the price of those torches makes me angry - no reason for them to cost that much.
So… I been looking into the generic parts and the wire diagram for my torch and see if I can do a DIY version.
that said… the hand-held clamps in perfectly well and accuracy is not an issue.

I just bought the Hypertherm 45xp with both torches. Didn’t like the prices but look at the price of the regular handheld torch, it’s outrageous as well. My old Cutmaster 40 didn’t have a CNC port so I got a new, better machine and both torches. I will take the old machine to our vacation home’s shop.
It’s a PITA to remove the hand torch make a manual cut and then remount it and recalibrate it so I thought the machine torch was worth it.
