Ok i am still having issues with my machine not cutting a straight line, it keeps getting these wavy jogs, i have re calibrated more times than i can count, when cutting squares and rectangles the lines leading away from the machine are straight but lines running parallel to the machine have a wave to them, its in the same spot on top and bottom in the same direction any other suggestions other than re calibration
@Joelsams
Could you lay the metal in front of the Arcdroid approximately where it was when you cut it and take a picture from above?
I was having a similar situation, but don’t know if it is the same thing or not without pictures.
Thanks
If you are standing behind the AD, is the curve in the cut on the left?
If so then that is the same thing that mine was doing.
Andrew and I were on the phone for over 2 hours, off and on, trying to figure it out. We tried everything!
It was my dumb luck that figured it out! I had the AD plugged into an old power strip that was on the same circuit as a small air compressor.
When I changed the power to a circuit that had nothing else on it, the problem went away.
You said that you recalibrated the AD many times, make sure you go into settings and start from default.
I hope this helps, it fixed my same problem.
Thanks
Henry
I can’t say enough good things about the service from Arcdroid.
Andrew has been more than patient with me and my self inflicted problems.
He might take a little bit longer to answer an email sometimes but I know from experience about being self employed.
Sometimes you get way too many irons in the fire and time gets away. He has always responded to my emails!
Did you contact Andrew about this issue?
If you can’t get him on the phone, you can always email. He has always responded.
Well it is a reverse curve, it starts out in and then out, it is also curved on the top side as well furthest from the AD, and the only other item i have plugged into that circuit is a chop saw that is not used while im using the AD, i always start from default settings when re calibrating, thanks for your help
Yes i am more than happy with service from andrew, he is a great person, this will all get sorted out
Not yet, i thought i would try the forum first, i know he is busy, sometimes he comments on the forum
Try a different power cord and make sure it is on the opposite side of the buss inside your distribution panel.
How I figured out that I had a problem with power was, Andrew had told me to increase the amount of torque on the X&Y axis motors and when I would go back to that setting, the AD had reset the settings from where I had manually set.
Andrew said that the AD would change this setting if it was overloaded.
Hope this helps.
Well i had my whole shop wired by a electrician for specific things, so the plug is right next to my AD so no extension cord
Try mounting up a Sharpie marker to the head. Run your program and see how straight a line you have. This eliminates plasma interference, plasma cable influence on the arm motion, and distortion of the material due to heat.
If it’s still not straight it really is a calibration issue….
The things I have had cause this problem were:
-drive belts getting loose but this caused more of a jerky cut
-the torch not being square in the holder, this would cause cuts to be straight and then curved depending on the direction the torch was leaning and direction of travel.
-I have also had thinner material move from heat expansion when it was pressed tight against the ARCDROID base. this would give me a cut that appeared to bend towards the ARCDROID because the material was growing away from the ARCDROID. you can test this with BobD’s sharpie idea
