So this new problem just occurred, while the torch is furthest from the machine the pierce height and cut height seem to function correctly, but as the torch moves closer to the machine the pierce height and cut height shrink , it still probes just fine but the does not retract to correct pierce height and if it doesnt hit the right pierce height is messes with the cut height so the nozzle gets stuck stuck in the pierce kerf, im thinking that because of the cable arc is steeper when the torch is closest to the machine that is is binding somehow but i cant seem to work it out
I think you are having a probing issue. Is your material flexing down or tipping at the probe anywhere on your piece of stock? You can use your finger to poke around and see if you’re seeing any movement. Check to see if your plasma torch lead support is not affecting things. Probably the quickest way is to mount up the stylus and run your program with that. Stop after it probes and starts “cutting” Use something for a gauge block and measure your cut height. Use feelers with a piece of metal to measure your height. Need to do this anyways just to comp the Z to give the real world cut height you programed. Check and see where in the Z travel your working. It is better to stay near the top of the travel as that gives better spring pressure. Its the spring pressure that brings the Z down. Make sure the Z guide rails are clean and a drop of lube. Check to make sure the cable housing “trap” door on the Droid base unit is free moving. This operates the microswitch that detects the cable going loose when the torch tip probes and contacts the workpiece. Hopefully these checks will help.
Hey bob thanks for the response, i have checked all of those things, i have clamped the cut piece down tight so there is zero movement, i have my torch lead supported so there is no extra weight on the arm, as i said works perfect in the farthest position away from the arc droid directly in front, and as the arm moves closer to the arc droid body is when the pierce hight and cut height changes, i have been running the arc droid on this table for about 2 years and never had this issue, i will do the gauging blocks next to get a more accurate measurement of the z height for pierce and cut, it was running flawlessly all day and then just out of nowhere in the middle of a project it just started to do it
