Problems cutting

Hi All,

Having some problems cutting, please see the photos, it’s a kind of wobble cut,

1400mm feed, 30A 65psi, rtech p51d no thc

1.5mm 304 stainless

Machine torch fitted to arcdroid

I’ve spoken with extreme and they have indicated that I may need the machine torch bracket for extra support for the machine torch as the bracket that comes with the arcdroid has only one clamp at the bottom of the bracket,

Also, should I be clamping the work to the table, this part was cut just resting in the table, so are you supposed to use weights or clamps to keep the work stable on the plasma table, I never used any clamps as they YouTube videos I’ve seen don’t use clamps for work

Any ideas are welcome

Cheers Mark

My opinion would be that your torch setup is inducing oscillations into the Droid arm. Looks like a lot of side load.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, after some tear down and investigation I’ve noticed that there is quite a bit of play in the z axis bushings, is this normal as I have a feeling that these should be a slide fit and not rattle, unfortunately I can’t upload the video I have but here is a picture

The bushings are not a tight fit to the shaft. Remember it is gravity and a bit of spring pressure that makes the Z go down. The cable drive pulls it up only.

Thanks Jdd,

That is exactly the same effect I’m getting, I’ll work through the video link you’ve attached

Hi Bob

I’ve spent many years working on various types of industrial cnc machines, I’m not confident that the z axis bushing should be as loose as this , results in play in the x and y axis I would assume the bushing should slide freely with almost no movement in the xy axis

I have had the same issues, I use Vcarve to generate a DXF file, I have found that if I do not smooth my lines (Smoothing : Besier Curves) I have thousands of nodes, I believe each node creates another gcode line. After smoothing only a few. So I have been able to correct my issues with my drawing software. FWIW

Hi Olddawg,

Im using fusion and I have the smoothing selected mainly because I watched a YouTube video were the guy talked about reducing the size of the gcode files as there is a limit on the arcdroid,

I’m going to dabble some more at the wee
