Water table designs with 2X large cut extender

Hello everybody. I’m just starting out with this new machine today. I’m looking for fairly easy build plans for a 6’ x 2’ water table with mounts for the 2X large cut extender. I jimmy rigged a table today just to dive in a bit but I need a solid/level design than I can roll around my shop as needed.
Cheers and I’m glad to finally be apart of the ArcDroid community.

I’m currently finishing my POC build with the X2 and plan to add a water tray in the future. It’s 4’x3’ with a cut area of 46”x 26”. I hope to get it completed this weekend. I’ll share an update once I get my first cuts! Definitely a few mistakes I need to resolve.

Looks good, I like the shelves you added for your other equipment. I picked up a full sheet today for my water pan and should have plenty left over for all the slats. I do have an old fab table I never finished that I can repurpose but still in beginning stages of designing.

I’ve been working on mine for a bit now. It’s gonna have a 16”x50” cut area. I’m mounting the x2 to an adjustable bridge so I can feed a full 48” wide sheet under it. All four legs are adjustable for leveling.

I’ll share my learnings so far.

  1. I wanted a flat surface as my top base. I forgot the 1” rise on the X2.
  2. This threw off my plan to support my slats. It’s ugly but I had already cut them, so this is my temporary solution. 1” angle iron on top, tacked in angle iron spacers putting my cut level nearly inline.
  3. My fab table and cut table are nearly level with each other for supporting large pieces.
  4. I need to price out SS for a wet bed but a dog crate tray for $60 that is nearly 90% of the area I expect to use regularly is hard to beat.

I have a Mac, I wasn’t able to unpack the software upgrades after downloading 3 software packages. If anyone has a Mac unzip utility that works, please share. I finally figured out a way to do it on my work laptop (PC). It’s locked down with security preventing file transfers so that was an additional hoop.

After calibration, 5 minutes with the internal shapes and I was cutting my 1st sample. Hard to beat that kind of simplicity!

I’m hoping to make some more cuts today and begin learning the software more!

Thanks to Andrew for making my plasma cutter so much more valuable!

Cheers!
